Tracking Google +1 button Interaction in Google Analytics

Google introduced the new +1 button last month, which we of course immediately implemented. We take you through the steps to track the interaction with that button in Google Analytics.

+1 buttons let people who love your content recommend it on Google search.

How does +1 affect search results?

+1 helps people discover relevant content—a website, a Google search result, or an ad—from the people they already know and trust. Adding the +1 button to your pages lets users recommend your content, knowing that their friends and contacts will see their recommendation when it’s most relevant—in the context of Google search results.

How to implement it

This is the code to put in your header, or body tag:

Then track the click in Google Analytics.

Out of the box, Google Analytics provides integrated tracking with the Google +1 button. This means if you have set up both Google +1 and the latest version of Google Analytics on the same page, all +1 social interactions will be tracked automatically.

You can enable tracking for other social plugins in a few simple steps.
